Chef Jon Fasier, of Locals Restaurant, will show us some of his favourite German recipes. This class will be unique, as Jon and Darren will be recording it as an episode for their very popular podcast show called The Edible Valley Podcast. When asked to do this class and turn it into a podcast at Clever Crow farm, Jonathan was excited. He reminisced about old times from his very beginning work in the kitchens and thought about some classic Germanic dishes that began his career. He remembered a trip to Vienna and a visit to a Heuriger, a tavern known for selling simple dishes from their farm or vineyard, with an atmosphere of warmth , friendliness and good cheer. The idea of sharing traditional dishes with some twists from the delicious bounty of the Clever Crow Farm seemed like the perfect fit.

The Edible Valley Podcast started on a whim. It was a chance for two old friends to re-connect, to network, and to learn about the food culture of the Comox Valley. They hope to inspire local eating, supporting sustainable agriculture and become a place to connect food producers with customers. You will find them on the Comox Valley beaches, famous for shellfish production, in the kitchen talking to chefs, and on farms, tasting the carrots with dirt still clinging to them.
